SCHOOL INITIATIVES

• Developing Excellence in Primary Science and Maths - This is our way to develop Science, Maths and IT in tandem as we use powerpoint and digital photography to record our project each year. This year our staff engaged in DPSM Training to further develop this area
• Vex Robotics - Engineering
• Mini Scientist Competition 2016
• Aistear - Our Infant classes are operating Aistear ( a constructive play and language development framework) for the second year
• Greenwave - Here we watch for signs of Spring in certain species, the Ash, the Chestnut, the Frog, the Swallow and the Primrose
• Maths Week - Maths Trails are serious fun
• Science Week -Mini Beast Hunts
• Local History/ Discover Cork - Look around you
• Green Schools - Darina Allen raised our first flag in June 2015 and we are working towards our second flag for the management of energy usage
• Health Promoting Schools - We operate a Healthy Lunches Policy and love Zippy
• Literacy Initiatives - Ask us about CAPER, Literacy Lift Off, 'Reading as Friends', and 'Building Bridges of Comprehension' and 'Time to Read', a literacy initiative organised by the Schools' Business Partnership abd sponsored for us by ESB Aghada
