Our Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class took part in a football blitz in Aghada GAA pitch with other schools from the local area. It was a fantastic day out and the children loved playing against other schools. A great start to our Active Week in Whitegate National School!

For the Month of February and March 2nd - 4th Class have been taking part in basketball lessons and learning new skills. They are practicing the fundamental movement skills of running, throwing, catching, dodging and sidestepping.
On Friday the 28th of January, the whole school took part in Feel Good Friday. The children loved this skipping challenge. 5th and 6th class completed over 8000 skips! 2nd class - 4th Class climbed many peaks around Europe including Carrauntoohil and Ben Nevis. Well done to everyone on their efforts!
Tá na páistí ag baint taitneamh as an damhsa. The children are very much enjoying the Irish dancing lessons every Tuesday. The children are making great progress and learning their steps in a way that is fun. We appreciate the time and dedication given by our Irish dancing coach and well done to the children too.
Dance is a very valuable part of the P.E curriculum so it is nice to learn some new steps. The children enjoy Irish Dancing every Tuesday. Thanks to our coach and to the children who are making great progress
Early in November the Aghada Intermediate Hurling team came to visit our school with the cup. Many of our past pupils who are on the team came to the school hall to talk with the children and answer many of their very interesting questions.. The advice from the players for the children was to keep training and having fun and success will follow.
Our 3rd and 4th class entered the Futsal Soccer Tournament on the 24th of October. We played teams from all over Cork and did ourselves proud. We demonstrated great soccer skills and team spirit and though we didn't win on the day we are all very proud of our team. We had great fun and look forward to playing more soccer throughout the year.
We held a Staff Challenge to celebrate International Fitness day on the 29th of September. The Infants and First class won the obstacle race against the staff, the 2nd and 3rd class drew in the catch ball game while the 4th-6th class won against the staff in the soccer competition. Great fun was had by all.
The children took part in the Castlelyons Athletics Competition this term. A great day was had by all and children took part from first to sixth class. Congrats to all involved including our medal winners.
Whitegate National School held a welcome walk in September. It was a great day enjoyed by the school community, including some past pupils as well. The children walked, cycled and travelled on scooters. Afterwards we all had cakes and treats in the school hall.
