Fifth & Sixth Class Projects
Fifth and sixth class exhibited their fantastic 3D projects of famous landmarks today. the parents, teachers and pupils all enjoyed the exhibition. Well done to fifth & sixth class!!!!
East Cork Primary Sports
East Cork Schools Cross Country
A couple of people went to Fr O'Neills pitch to represent our school in the East Cork schools cross country races and had a blast.
While we did not come first we had a lot of fun and did amazing. The following people attended this event .Their names are Éabha, Emily, Kyle and Diego from 1st class. Eden, Aaisha, Dave, Jacob, Anna, Mathew, Olan and Shay from 2nd and third class.
Eoin, Abbie, Abigail and Irati from 4th class. Kayla and Raphael from 5th class.
Harry, Alannah, Cormac, Niamh, Joshua, Soleil and Méabh from 6th class.
The medalists of Whitegate N.S were Mathew, Alannah, Eoin and Harry.
While we may not have come first we had a lot of fun and made friends.
One of our runners could not make it but We still did phenomenal and we earned a lot of medals for our school.
It was a tough race but we persevered and the behaviour was exquisite. It was a great day for the school and we came back with smiley faces

The sun shone down on us for our annual sports day on wednesday 22nd June. we had a wonderful visit to corkbeg where we took part in obstacle courses, races, parachute games and dodgeball.
The second part of our day was filled with a teacher versus 6th class game of dodgeball and the final of our soccer blitz. Well done to all for great participation and teamwork througout the day!

When Sixth class met
Monty's Pass
On Monday 20th June, Sixth class went to visit Monty's pass in Conna. At 9.30am
we set off on our journey to Mary & Jimmy Mangans yard to meet Monty and see
the other horses and foals too.
We did lots of fun acttivities and ran all the up the woodchip gallop and even
trying to jump a few fences. We fed Monty some carrots and we think he really enjoyed them.
Thank you to Mary, Jimmy, patrick, Clodagh & Chloe for a great day and the lovely treats.

A visit to tír na sí
Junior infants, senior infants and 1st class took a trip to tír na sí open farm in watergrasshill for their tour this year. Great fun was had by all. check out our blog for more photos!
Gathering again
in Whitegate National School
A wonderful day was had by all for our open day / gathering again event on friday 1oth June. It was great to see so many familiar faces back in the building again and to catch up on time lost over the last two years! the children were delighted to show their families around the school.
It was lovely to welcome our new families from ukraine and for them to see how well their children have settled over the past few weeks.
We also welcomed our new junior infants who will be starting in September and i'm sure they were delighted to meet their teacher and see their classroom.

Congratulations to our green schools committee who worked extremely hard over the last two years to gain our 4th green flag for travel. we had a wonderful day celebrating this great achievement! we were joined by cork hurler conor lehane who helped to raise the flag and give many words of encouragement to our pupils. Well done to all :-)

Cork City sports 2022
Congratulations to all the boys and girls who participated at the cork city sports on Friday 3rd June. We came home with a total of 14 trophies, a huge achievement for the school! we are very proud of them all :-)
First holy communion 2022
congratulation to our wonderful 2nd class pupils who received their first holy communion on saturday 14th may. they are a fantastic bunch of children who did our school proud! Whacky shoes day!
As part of our action day for our green schools travel initiative we held a whacky shoes day to coincide with the theme of walking! Everybody made such a great effort, Well done to all the winners. Have a look at our green schools page for more pictures of our action day.

We were lucky to have visit from our local Garda's this week! the junior room were very excited to hear the siren from the garda patrol car!

as part of our green school initiative to gain our travel flag we had a competition for the month of november to see how many people could walk/cycle/scoot or park and stride every wednesday. Everybody made a huge effort and our worthy winners are Ms Hyde's 5th and 6th class!!

Irving oil donation
many thanks to irving oil for their recent donation of €5,650 to our school's 'Special education library'. we now have a full PM graded reading system to use in all classes from infants to 6th. it will be an invaluable resource in our school. pictured are sheila Wall, irving oil, principal ms terry and our happy children accepting the donation on behalf of the school.

cycle to school day
on wednesday 15th september we took part in a cycle to school day as part of our green school initiative to gain our travel flag. It was also national bike week so a perfect week for us to take part.
the children had great fun throughout the day taking part in activities on the yard as well as designing a helmet competition.

marathon week!
As part of our active schools programme each class decided to complete a marathon by running laps of the school in pairs. Each class went above their expected target..what an achievement!! Well done everyone!!

French Beans Bring Festive Cheer!
What a lovely afternoon in whitegate ns when we were all treated to hot chocolate and cookies! The rainbow shone and we felt the luckiest children in the world! Ho ho ho!!

First Holy Communion
Our first holy communion class celebrated their big day on September 19th. It was a little late due to Covid restrictions but a lovely ceremony and lovely weather made for a MEMORABLE day!! Well done all!!

what a wonderful night we had with some amazing performances!! The junior room performed 'Ralph the reindeer' while 2nd -6th put on an amazing performance of 'Santa's on strike' as well as irish dancing, tin whistle and beautiful carols from our choir! Well done to all involved!

Sport's Day
fRIDAY 21ST OF MAY WAS OUR SPORTS DAY. WE HELD SOME IN cORKBEG AND SOME ON OUR OWN PLAYING FACILITIES.
- THE JUNIORS BEGAN THE DAY WITH RACES IN THE HALL, MOVED OUT TO THE YARD AND THEN ONtO THE FIELD BEFORE SMALL BREAK. THE SENIORS BEGAN WITH A RUN, MOVED ONTO THE LONG JUMP AND THE LONG THROW AND A PENALTY SHOOT OUT.
- WE THEN HAD LUNCH AND WALKED TO CORKBEG WHERE THERE WERE FOUR STATIONS, RACES, VOLLEYBALL AND DODGEBALL, OBSTACLE COURSES AND PARACHUTE GAMES. WE LOVED CORKBEG AND HAD SO MUCH SPACE.
- WE WERE DELIGHTED WHEN EMMA AND ELEANOR ARRIVED WITH ICE CREAMS FOR EVERYONE!! INCLUDING THE TEACHERS AND SOME PARENTS WHO CAME ALONG.
- WE HAD A FAB DAY. WE SAID GOODBYE TO ANNA TODAY WHO IS OFF TO SECONDARY SCHOOL.

Thanks so much to irving oil and sheila wall for organising a BBQ for us this year. We loved it and they had so much food cooked by Day's Spar that we all had seconds... Irving.. Thank you.
